TEQUESTA , FL — In Loving Memory of Gloria Brogi Turgiss Tequesta, FL

With grace and serenity, Gloria Brogi Turgiss departed this world on December 19th in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Gloria graduated in 1949 from Bridgewater Teacher’s College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. At Bridgewater, she found joy in the arts, contributing her talents to the dramatic and French clubs and choreographing dance sequences for productions like Freshmania and S-capades. These early experiences reflected her lifelong commitment to creativity, education, and connection.

For 38 years, Gloria was a beloved teacher in the Andover Public Schools, where she touched the hearts of countless students with her passion and dedication. At the same time, she embraced her most cherished role as a mother, raising three children with love, strength, and unwavering support. Outside the classroom and home, she expressed her vibrant spirit through hobbies such as sewing, gardening, dancing, traveling, and playing bridge.

Gloria’s generosity extended beyond her family and career into her community. She was a dedicated member of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club in Andover, Massachusetts, serving on its board since 1959. She actively participated in the Andover Senior Center, finding joy in the Sunrise Singers and exercise classes. As a proud member of the National Teachers Association and the Massachusetts Teachers Association, Gloria remained a lifelong advocate for education. In her later years, she briefly served as a board member of the Blair House Association in Tequesta, Florida, further showcasing her commitment to making a difference.

Gloria was predeceased by her devoted husband, Wallace Edward Turgiss, of Woburn, Massachusetts, with whom she shared a loving and fulfilling partnership. She is survived by her three children, each of whom she treasured deeply: Keith Turgiss and his wife Judy of Las Vegas, Nevada; Bruce Turgiss and his wife Jennifer of Princeton, New Jersey; and Lorna Fairess (née Turgiss) and her husband Steven Fairess of Lumberton, New Jersey. Her six grandchildren—Krystal, Eric, Blake, Connor, Nicholas, and Oksana—were the light of her life and a source of endless pride and joy.

Gloria’s warmth, compassion, and zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Whether teaching in the classroom, cultivating beauty in her garden, or sharing laughter with her family, she embodied grace, strength, and boundless love.
