Donald Folk, 82, passed away on April 29, 2025, in Las Vegas, NV. Donald (Donnie) was born in McLeansboro, Illinois to Leo Folk and Roberta McCorkle Folk on June 15, 1942.
Donnie graduated high school in Farmington, NM in 1960 and started working pipeline construction that eventually led to moving to Las Vegas, NV. Cruising Fremont Street he met and fell in love with Kathleen Brown. They married on June 27,1964. Pipelining took them to Seattle, WA.
While working on a pipeline project outside of Seattle an accident occurred with heavy equipment that required amputation of both of his legs. As Donnie, was working through rehab and getting used to artificial legs they started a family with the birth of their son, Kevin Folk. Donnie went back to business school and became a business manager for several pipeline companies that sent them on different projects throughout the country. While working in Flagstaff, AZ, their second son, Brett Folk, was born. Eventually, the family settled in Las Vegas as Donnie retired to raise his family.
Donnie, became heavily involved in youth sports in Las Vegas, coaching his sons in Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football. He was on the board of directors for Pop Warner from 1979 to 2006. He continued to coach both baseball and football for 27 years leading to multiple league championships and mentoring hundreds of local kids in Las Vegas. He never complained about his handicap and lived a full and loving life.
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Roberta Folk and his brother Jerry Joe Folk.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Kathleen Folk, of 60 years, his son’s Kevin (Andrea) and Brett (Renee Terrill), and his 7 grandchildren, Mason (Wendy), Madison, Jordan (Kael), Haley, Mikayla, Brayden, and Braxton. His grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he enjoyed every moment with them.
No funeral services are planned at this time; however, a Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. If you wish to honor Donnie, donate to your local youth sports program.
